Pocket Prep has added a brand new exam offering to its EMS Pocket Prep study prep – the NREMT® Emergency Medical Responder (EMR).

The EMR certification is the sixth addition to the company’s EMS exam prep offerings which span EMTs, Advanced EMTs, Paramedics, Flight Paramedics and Firefighters.

Emergency Medical Responders provide out-of-hospital care in emergency situations. In a medical emergency, EMRs provide basic medical care from first aid to basic life support with minimal resources while they wait for other EMS resources to arrive. They may provide immediate lifesaving interventions such as airway management, CPR, or trauma support.

To apply for EMR certification, prospective medics must be enrolled in an education program. They can then submit an application to take the exam four weeks before the education program concludes. The official EMR certification exam features between 90-110 multiple-choice questions, 30 of those questions not affecting the score.

Pocket Prep’s study material for the NREMT® EMR certification exam features 500 practice questions and is broken down into the five subject areas of the exam. Those subjects with their respective weight on the exam are:

  • Airway, Respiration & Ventilation (18%-22%)
  • Cardiology & Resuscitation (20%-24%)
  • Trauma (15%-19%)
  • Medical; Obstetrics & Gynecology (27%-31%)
  • EMS Operations (11%-15%)

All of Pocket Prep’s 500 practice questions were built from scratch using Pocket Prep’s sourcePrep™ process that includes working with an industry expert, and they are completely original. The textbook utilized in building the study material is the 7th Edition of Emergency Medical Responder: Your First Response in Emergency Care by the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons (AAOS).

Pocket Prep has been providing study prep for medical professionals for a decade and averages a 4.8-star App Store rating on all of its exam prep apps. As the nature of examinations means regular content and version changes, Pocket Prep will always make content updates as exam standards change.
