Take your ambulatory surgery nursing career to the next level and lead with confidence by earning the CNAMB® certification.
The CCI CNAMB® (Certified Ambulatory Surgery Nurse) exam is designed for nurses working in the ambulatory surgery setting. Offered by the Competency & Credentialing Institute (CCI), this certification validates your knowledge and skills in providing care in outpatient surgical settings, which is crucial for roles in ambulatory surgery centers.
Eligibility requires a current RN license and completion of an accredited nursing program. Additionally, candidates must have at least two years of nursing experience, with a minimum of 2,400 hours of experience in ambulatory surgery nursing.
The CNAMB® exam covers a comprehensive range of topics, including clinical judgment, patient safety, and ethical practice, ensuring that certified nurses are well-prepared to handle the complexities of their role. This certification not only enhances a nurse's professional standing but also contributes to improved patient outcomes, making it a valuable asset for any registered nurse in the field of ambulatory surgery.
The exam consists of 200 multiple-choice questions, 185 of which are scored and 25 unscored, with a time limit of 3 hours and 45 minutes. It uses scaled scoring from 200 to 800, and candidates must achieve a total scaled score of 620 to pass. In 2023, 48 candidates took the CNAMB® exam and the reported pass rate was 69%. Once certified, the CNAMB® credential is valid for five years, and recertification can be achieved through continuing education or re-examination.
