Pocket Prep has added a brand new exam offering to its IT & Cybersecurity Pocket Prep study prep – the CompTIA® Linux+ certification.

The Linux+ certification validates the skills needed to use Linux in today’s tech environment. The Linux operating system is used globally across scores of industries that include smartphones, supercomputers, cars, home appliances, and much more.

Prerequisites to sit for this exam are acquiring the CompTIA® A+ and CompTIA® Network+ certifications, as well as 12 months of Linux administrative experience. The exam is graded on a scale of 100 to 900, and a passing score is 720 or above.

The most common jobs with this certification include systems administrator, network administrator, web administrator, technical support specialist, and Linux software developers. As of 2019, earning the certification requires passing just a single examination, down from the former two exams.

Pocket Prep’s study material covers the five domain and knowledge areas of the exam. Those areas and their respective weight on the exam are:

  • Hardware and System Configuration (21%)
  • Systems Operation and Maintenance (26%)
  • Security (19%)
  • Linux Troubleshooting and Diagnostics (20%)
  • Automation and Scripting (14%)

The following two textbooks were used to build the content, and they are used as reference points in the detailed answer explanations for every question:

The Linux+ study prep is the 10th CompTIA® exam addition to Pocket Prep’s IT exam list, and the 15th exam addition overall to the company’s IT & Cybersecurity app.

Pocket Prep has been providing study prep for IT professionals for a decade and averages a 4.8-star App Store rating on all of its exam prep apps. As the nature of examinations means regular content and version changes, Pocket Prep will always make content updates as exam standards change.
