The LEED Accredited Professional in Building Design and Construction (LEED AP BD+C) exam is administered by the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC)® and is designed for professionals who specialize in the design and construction phases of green buildings, serving commercial, residential, education, and healthcare sectors. This certification is ideal for architects, engineers, and construction managers who are involved in sustainable building practices.
The LEED AP BD+C exam focuses on green building practices related to the design and construction of buildings. The exam covers topics such as sustainable sites, water efficiency, energy and atmosphere, materials and resources, and indoor environmental quality. Candidates are tested on their ability to apply LEED principles in designing buildings that minimize environmental impact and promote energy efficiency. Additionally, the exam evaluates knowledge of sustainable construction practices, site management, and innovation in design. Prior experience working on LEED-certified projects is beneficial for successfully passing the exam.
To be eligible for the LEED AP BD+C exam, candidates must hold a current LEED Green Associate credential and be at least 18 years of age. It is also recommended that candidates have prior LEED project experience. The exam consists of 100 multiple-choice questions and has a time limit of two hours. A passing score of 170 or higher out of 200 is required to earn the credential. The certification is valid for two years and requires 15 continuing education hours to maintain.
