Offered by the Behavior Analyst Certification Board® (BACB®), this certification validates your expertise in applied behavior analysis (ABA), including assessment, intervention, measurement, and ethical practice across clinical, educational, and organizational settings.
Candidates must meet BACB eligibility requirements, which include a qualifying graduate degree, completion of approved coursework in behavior analysis, supervised fieldwork hours, and adherence to the BACB Ethics Code for Behavior Analysts. Eligibility requirements must be fully met before applying to sit for the exam. The BCBA® exam consists of 185 multiple-choice questions (160 scored and 25 unscored pretest items) and must be completed within 4 hours. Exam content is based on the BACB’s BCBA Test Content Outline and assesses your knowledge across key domains such as behavior assessment, behavior-change procedures, measurement and data analysis, experimental design, supervision, and professional and ethical practice.
The BCBA® certification is valid for two years and must be maintained through continuing education, adherence to ethical standards, and timely recertification with the BACB.
