ultimate preparation for the EMR exam.

The Emergency Medical Responder (EMR) exam is the entry-level certification offered by the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians (NREMT®). This certification is intended for individuals who wish to provide immediate lifesaving care while waiting for higher-level EMS providers to arrive. EMRs are often the first on the scene and must be able to perform basic interventions to save lives.
To be eligible, candidates must complete a state-approved EMR training program. The EMR exam is a computer-based test (CBT), consisting of 90 to 110 multiple-choice questions. The time allotted for the exam is 1 hour and 45 minutes. Like other NREMT exams, the EMR test is adaptive, adjusting the difficulty of questions based on the candidate’s responses.
The April 2025 NREMT EMR test plan exam covers five main content areas. We’ve updated the subject breakdown in our EMR prep to reflect this test plan and have divided the 'Patient Treatment and Transport' category into five focused subjects to help students focus their studying and allow instructors to better align their curriculum with students' test prep.
