Kristeena Alder turned to Pocket Prep to study for The National Academy of Sports Medicine Certified Personal Trainer (NASM-CPT™) exam after being out of school for a few years. Knowing she needed a tool to keep her on track with a busy schedule, she looked at a number of options to see which one would meet her needs best. After learning about Pocket Prep’s mobile app, she decided to try it out.
She shared her story with us. Here’s what she had to say:
“When I decided to take the CPT course, I was a little nervous because I had been out of school for a few years and I’ve never had the best study habits. The fact that it’s an online class is what concerned me. I prefer learning in person; in a classroom where I can ask questions and engage with my classmates in a group setting. In college, I struggled with online classes. It was easy for me to forget about my coursework and go on with work and other classes. I feared the same would happen with this course.
I knew I needed to find something that would keep the class on my mind throughout the day, so I started looking for any mobile resources. I looked for anything related to the human body and personal training. I found the Pocket Prep app and was happy to see the content was written by experts on the NASM CPT.
Once I set up the ’Question of the Day’ reminders and took the quizzes daily, I started understanding the material more. I used the free version for a while then decided to upgrade just before my certification exam. Taking those quizzes gave me a confidence boost. I also used the ‘Days Until Exam’ countdown to help me focus. Marking the days made it real, I got serious about my studying.
I can happily say I passed my exam. I’m so grateful for the Pocket Prep app. I used other online resources to help me with the class but I honestly think this app did the most for me. The ability to have on the go testing with feedback by the section is invaluable.”
